Meet our team

At Whitestar we put people before profits. We are the good guys of the data and electrical industry. The team here at Whitestar are the lifeblood of our company. We have a large team with all levels from engineers to apprentices out supporting our clients every day. The people you will see here are the senior management team, responsible for ensuring the job gets done.

Managing Director

John English

John is the founder of Whitestar and focuses on strategic planning with an emphasis on sales growth and new technologies.

Best bit of the job: John enjoys going to work everyday 😊 but the best bits are watching team members grow, from apprentice to qualified, from qualified to management.

Special skills: Listening and never losing his cool…

Favourite TV programme: John likes Dexter, Luther and a classic bit of Only Fools & Horses

Operations Director

Steve Bannell

Steve directs all the operations of the company to ensure that all departments work together efficiently and that client projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.

Best bit of the job: Steve enjoys the satisfaction of a job well done. He loves supporting other team members to understand and achieve their full potential and sharing his electrical knowledge with everyone from engineers to apprentices.

Special skills: Project/Construction Management and a great sense of humour.

Favourite TV programme: Steve loves a bit of Sci-Fi (Star Trek is a particular favourite) and a classic comedy such as Only Fools and Horses.

Dream holiday location: Remote Caribbean island

Operations Manager

Nick Collins

Nick manages the company operations on a day-to-day basis, liaising with clients and ensuring projects exceed our client’s expectations.

Best bit of the job: Nick enjoys building strong relationships with clients who know they can trust him and Whitestar to deliver.

Special skills: Resilience and adaptability

Senior Estimator

Trevor Grace

Trevor evaluates all Whitestar tender enquiries at pre-construction stage assessing the complexity of each project, determining labour, material and overhead costs.

Best bit of the job: A combination of securing the work and seeing it perform well through to completion.

Special skills: Being able to visualise what’s needed to complete the job in hand at an early stage.

Favourite TV programme: Trevor’s all-time favourites are 24, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Stranger things and Only fools & Horses!

Dream holiday location: Bora Bora

I'd buy my Mum a house big enough to have all her grand children every weekend!

Project Manager

Ashley Bennett

Ashley manages Whitestar projects, everything from ordering materials and liaising with clients, to ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met and organising secure access.

Best bit of the job: Ashley enjoys dealing with clients and engineers on a daily basis.

Special skills: Listening to people to understand their exact requirements.

Favourite TV programme: Ashley is a fan of Midsomer Murders

Office Manager

Sarah Cooper

Sarah is responsible for the day to day running of the Whitestar office and is the go-to person for any issues the Operations or Admin team have.

Best bit of the job: Sarah likes the variety; every day is different.

Special skills: Good communication skills, excellent organisational skills and copes well under pressure.

Favourite TV programme: Sarah has some diverse tastes; Breaking Bad and Love Island!

Dream holiday location: Sarah has a list; Machu Picchu, Peru, Canadian Rockies, Banff, Vietnam and Alaska.

What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?
I would buy a beautiful house for me and my children in the middle of nowhere, yet close enough to amenities.

Admin Assistant

Amy Barber

Amy supports the Operations and Finance teams to ensure that all administration is dealt with efficiently and things run smoothly.

Best bit of the job: Amy loves working with the Whitestar team in a forward-thinking and supportive company.

Special skills: Multitasking, organisation and learning new things

Favourite TV programme: Amy loves a range of shows including Goggle Box, Mrs Brown’s Boys, The Royle Family and Line of Duty

Finance Controller

Bijal Shah

Bijal is in charge of looking after the financial health of the company.
